today: 6.26.2011

i went to the padres vs braves game & forgot to apply sunscreen.

i really want burritos for dinner, but instead i am having left rice from last nights dinner of stuffed peppers.

i am going to have peach iced tea ice cream for dessert. its pretty delicious.

i watched the sunset with ran.

i am having a greys anatomy marathon. i need to finish watching season 7 before tuesday when my hulu plus trial period ends.

i am busy making cute little embroidered ornaments while i watch greys.

i am thinking ran is the sweetest husband in the world for letting me comandere the computer/tv on his days off so that i can watch greys.

i keep reminding myself that tomorrow is garbage day because i forgot last week & now our trash is pretty full.

i am excited for the season premier of weeds tomorrow.

i am listening to "the help" on audio book while i clean. so far i like the book alot & i am discovering i really like audio books.

i am editing a bunch a photos from our cross country road trip for a mini album & im real excited about it... really.

outside my window: the briquettes are still red hot from some recent grilling that was going on on the patio.

i am thinking: that its a perfect evening to cuddle on the couch & watch movies.

i learned: that i get pretty whiney when im sick... im even complaining on here. sorry.

i am have been busy: watching greys anatomy since ive been too sleepy & tired to do anything else.

i am going: to go grocery shopping tomorrow... our poor cupboards are pretty sad looking.

around the house: blankets & pillows are scattered around from my various "im sick" cat naps.

outside my window: i have an overflowing recycle bin & i cant remember if tomorrow is recycle day or not.

i am thinking: that this summer is going to be pretty awesome. ive been jotting down some fun things i hope to do over the next 3 months... ill share it later.

i learned: that the statue of liberty was a gift from france. i must have been day dreaming when we covered that in history class.

i am creating:  a little embroidered calendar.

i am going: to take a walk with ran down to the market to get some ice cream... & a brownie mix.

around the house: the pup is napping in her suitcase (ha ha), i still have dishes from last night dinner sitting in my sink, & i need to re-hang up a curtain rod that fell down earlier this week.

outside my window: it is chilly sweater weather, but sunny & thats all that matters. i missed the sun sooo much!

i am thinking: about how lucky i am. i woke up this morning befor anyone else & as i was looking around... ran sleeping beside me, kitten little snuggled in her bed, pup snuggling with rans feet... i had one of those moments where i wished i could stop time.

i am happy: that ran got this job, that he can walk to work, & that he really likes it.

i learned: that pandas poop an average of 48 times per day.

i am creating:  buntings/garlands/pennants... whatever you call them thats what i am busy creating today. i want some for my kitchen, a doorway, & for the pups bed.

i am going: to make parmesan roasted potatoes tonight for dinner. i saw the recipe on pinterest & tried it the other night... it was so good that ran requested it again tonight. plus it makes the house smell all delicious & garlic-y.

i am reading: blogs. all the time. i love discovering new blogs... i recently found this one that has some delicious looking recipes that i plan on trying very soon, this one always has dreamy photos... i love her free spirit friday feature, & this one has some great paper inspiration.

around the house: i got the living room all put back together & added a few new things, like glitter stars. now im working on the kitchen... this kitchen is way bigger than my old one & has way more wall space... big open wall space that scares me a little bit.

outside my window: ob is recovering from the ob beach ball yesterday... a "small" event at the beach... music, games, food, art, etc.

i am thinking: about how to organize my new craft area... well same area just different sizes of shelves... which is changing things quite a bit.

i am happy: i scrapbook. not as much as i used to & im fine with that, but i glad i do. i was moving my albums to a different location & i had to look each one. it brought back so many memories... i loved it.

i learned: some interesting things about avocados. it is also called an alligator pear (totally makes sense), the word avocado has origins refering to a specific part of the male body, & an avocado tree can grow up to 69 feet tall.

i am creating:  dream catchers! ill share them soon.

i am going: to update my flickr account this week. i uploaded some new pictures weeks ago, but never named them or anything so they still just have the wierd numbers assigned to them... cool i know. & i have a ton more that i need to upload.

i am reading: listening is an act of love. if youve never read it... you are missing out. it is filled with beauty. its a collection of stories from storycorps which is an organization that sets up these stations that you & someone you know can go to & in an interview style (you interviewing the person you went with or vice versa) they record your stories. there are grandsons interviewing their grandfathers, close friends, mother & daughter, etc. the stories are funny, sad, happy, heartbreaking, & real. you can feel how real they are.

around the house: we are re-arranging! we just started this afternoon & the house is a big 'ole mess, but i love the new arrangement... way more open than before & thats important when you live in a small space.

outside my window: its been a little chilly & breezy which makes the palm trees creak & freaks me out just a little bit.

i am thinking: that my obsession with weeds is turning into an addiction. i just started watching the series again for the fourth time in six weeks.

i am happy: for sunny sunny days!

i am learning: that my neighbors are hilarious.

i am creating:  scrapbook pages! i finished a layout today that i had started back in syracuse.

i am going: to walk to the store to get some flour so ran can make cinnamon rolls. mmmm.

i am reading: you on a diet by dr oz. i read for the first time about 5 years ago & am re-visiting it. dr oz has such a way of making boring things really interesting.

around the house: i have little piles of projects in every room.

outside my window: i can hear fireworks going off.

i am thinking: that i had forgotten how much i love project runway! ive been watching it all day.

i am happy: that my mama was here last week. we got to do some fun things & i really enjoyed showing her around san diego.

i am learning: that sunscreen needs to be part of my daily getting ready ritual.

i am creating:  all sorts of new things for my etsy shop.

i am going: to wake up early tomorrow to take my trash out to the alley... or i might pretend to be asleep so ran will do it.

i am reading: stiff; the curious lives of human cadavers by mary roach. its my second time reading it & i am find it just as fascinating as i did the first time. the other night i asked ran if he wanted me to read to him (since i find it so interesting i want others to hear it too) & he said he would probably fall alseep soon so i told him i would read to him until he fell alseep. he didnt fall alseep while i was reading & ive been reading aloud every night since.

i am hoping: to have my esty shop re-opened by the end of the week... fingers crossed.

around the house: i am really enjoying have a couch for the first time in almost four years. its nice to take afternoon naps on.

outside my window: kitten little is keeping watch over the backyard. she had never really gone outside before we moved here & boy does she love it. when we first got her i read something about how cats spends 70% of their time sleeping. we then added that she spent 25% of her time terrorizing the pup & 5% eating. now its more like 70% of her time is spent outside watching the going-ons of the neighborhood... which means less time to terrorize the pup.

i am thinking: about where im going to hang up pictures & wall decor...

i am happy:  to be here. like incredibly happy.

i am learning: how to parallel park & im getting pretty good at it... i failed that part of my driving test way back when, but now its a whole different story. there is only street parking here so i have been getting alot of practice.

i am creating:  a new look for the blog. i am so inspired by my new home... the colors, the scenery... everything... i thought my current, recently redone blog was a little too dreary syracuse inspired. i also re-did rans blog to be more website like until he gets his up & running. you should check it out & give me some feedback... cool? needs a few changes?

i am going: to attempt to try & organize my little craft area. i went from a whole living room to a wall in our bedroom... way less space. buts its okay, it might be a bit of a challenge, but im up to it.

i am reading: nothing at the moment (except still catching up on blogs), but after unpacking i have run across quite a few books that i really want to re-read.

i am hoping:  ... well i dont want to jinx anything. sorry.

around the house: things are starting to come together! it took us 6 weeks to pack & 3 days to unpack... im so excited to get everything into its place. & good news, so far nothing broke!

a picture: (or two)... yesterday evening we walked down to the water to watch the sunset. it was pretty amazing... high tide made for some crazy waves with some crazy thunderous sounds & there was a group of kids playing bongos. ah! perfect.

i am thinking:  this is crazy! i cant believe this is my new home.

i am happy:  rans parents were able to meet us down here to help us get set up.

i am learning:  where things are... slowly.

i am creating:  a file full of edited photos to share on here this coming week.

i am going:  to a bbq at rans cousins house up in the hills.

i am reading:  blogs. i have so many posts that i need to catch up on... im down to 88 new posts on blog lovin.

i am hoping:  i find a job soon.

around the house: we have the necessities along with a "new" thrifted couch, an air mattress, a new desk, & a new kitchen bar with stools... but we are still waiting for our stuff to arrive. hopefully next week.

outside my window: the sky is blue & i spotted some lily sprouts coming up.

i am thinking: oh my goodness! i have 7 more days until i leave for california.

i am happy: we took a break yesterday & met up with davey, sarah, & cecily for the afternoon.

i am learning: to take really long deep breathes & refocus when i feel anxious.

i am creating: piles of things. stuff to go in the car, stuff to donate, & stuff to take if we have room.

i am going: to watch some greys anatomy on netflix.

i am reading: alot of apartment ads & job listings. ha!
