last week i stumbled upon one of the most visually beautiful films i have ever seen & i havent stopped thinking about it or listening to the music since.
it was my turn to pick out something to watch & i was bored with the normal things we watch so as i browsed through hulu's documentary selection i saw re.generation music project. i had never heard of it before, but the basic premis is 5 djs each take a genre of music & then sort of recreate it in their own style. okay, so experimenting with music & it had skillex in it who ran really likes, i'll give it a shot, so i hit play. i was kind of expecting to fall asleep half way through it, but total opposite, i couldnt take my eyes off the screen... the lighting & cinematogrophy are amazing. gorgeous. i highly recommend watching it, even if just for inspiring artistry on the film. you can watch the entire film for free on hulu(you dont have to hulu plus).
my favorite song out of the 5 was pretty lights "wayfaring stranger." there is so much soul in this song it just revirbirates in your bones.
i purposely skipped music for your monday this past monday because i knew this video was coming out later in the week & i wanted to share it. first, i am so thrilled that regina spektor is coming out with a new record on may 29th... i love her music so much. second, if you go to her website you can also her a song she re.did for this cd. if i remember right, her song, "dont leave me" was a bonus track if you bought a cd set. now the song is back, with a fun new beat & some new lyrics.
okay so now on to the new music video, all the rowboats, enjoy...
i was actually going to skip this weeks music for your monday because i didnt know what song to share & i wasnt in the mood to find one... enter itunes. listening on random while i tidy up & this oldie, but goodie starts to play. suddenly im having flashbacks to my late teens / early twenties, living in the tri.cities, driving around in rans honda, & going to local shows. ah, i can almost feel the warm evening breeze after a hot hot summer day & smell the sagebrush.
this is hands down, my favorite loudermilk song. enjoy...
this is natasha kozaily... a friendly & wonderful singer / songwriter i met at the farmers market a couple of weeks ago. im always on the look out for new music so i was anxious to get home & have a listen to her music. i was not disappointed! she has an amazing mix of sounds that are perfect to listen to when your creating or just relaxing... cultural crossing & dreamy.
you can stream her new ep, a tale of one fish on her website. (it will play as long as the window is open.)
ran & i been listening to this song (& the others from the sorry for the wait mix tape). sooo much recently, but its not the most approprate song to post to my blog... profanity & what not. so im just going to link to it, & if you are so inclined you can click & listen to it. the song is adele's rolling in the deep music & lil' wayne rapping (or singing or whatever it is he does). the first 30 seconds or so are a little eh, but it gets a really nice beat. so if you would like to listen click here.
or you can listen to this adele mash.up that glee did. i really like it... maybe even better than the individual songs.
so first off, who watched the grammys last night? i did. its a pretty rare thing that i watch network tv so its always a little shocking when i do... is it just me or are commercials getting more & more ridiculous? & i wont even start on local news, just that remembered how much i hate it. back to the grammys. here are my thoughts:
chris brown totally looked like he was lip synching & did he serisously not have enough time to button more than 2 buttons before accepting his award?
rhianna had tina turner hair.
loved the lights during the cold play performance.
some 2 person group i had never heard of looked as if they were channeling the white stripes, but with a country spin.
beach boys: cool.
paul mccartney... i will quote ran, "honk shoo. thats the sound of snoring."
my personal favorite moment: the tribute to glen campbell.
it seems fitting to share one of my favorite whitney houston songs this week, although it was a little hard to choose. i think my very favorite will always be "i will always love you" but this is a close second & it was a good song for me to listen to today... "if your searching for a place you know, a familiar face, somewhere to go, you should look inside yourself. your halfway there."
did you know that on showtime you can listen to a majority of the songs that are featured on weeds? i didnt until a few days ago when ran was searching for a song he had heard on weeds & was trying to figure out the name & the group. i ended up listening to almost all the songs available that evening. anyhow, in the process of searching for this particular song ran came across this stop motion video that uses hundreds of photos the user has taken & we are all about stop motion videos recently... we have been making some practice ones for a project ran is working on.
i live by the beach with my best friend & our little family who refer to as "the pack." i am a music loving creative soul who over uses "..." when blogging
