yesterday was an im-starting-to-feel-like-i-might-be-getting-sick-so-im-going-to-stay-snuggled-in-my-blanket-&-watch-weeds-all-day-long kind of day. seriously. i even took two naps. as i was occupying my couch yesterday i decided i need to make one of these super chunky super soft afghans. it just screams "stay on the couch with a hot cocoa!"

i love this color / texture / pattern combo... the lace with the chevrons, cream & orange.. its a perfect fall combination.

i just discovered jason decaires taylor & i am loving his work sooo much. he makes sculptures that are submerged in the ocean & eventually become coral reefs. how awesome are these?

a while ago, on a night time walk on the beach, we saw a group of people lighting up floating lanterns. it was so beautiful watching them float up & away into the night sky. then i ran across this photo of a group of monks in thailand lighting floating lanterns. gorgeous! i cant even imagine how magical it would be to see something like this. i think we need to have a floating lantern flash mob one night here on the beach.

1.

this brownie-peanut butter-chocolate-drizzle deliciousness is our newest favorite dessert... its so good (really really sweet) & its not as scary to make as the fancy names in the recipe make it sound. names like peanut butter cream cheese mousse or chocolate ganache. & now, after making this recipe i know that you really can make whipped cream out of whipping cream... i mean obviously the name "whipping cream" would lead one to the assumption that if you whip it then it will turn into whipped cream, but i was skeptical... especially after about 3 or 4 minutes of whipping & it still looked as un-whipped as when i poured it into the bowl. lesson in perseverance. 

so now that you saw the deliciousness... the recipe can found at culinary concoctions. you can also find lots of other deliciousness there like for these honey pecan squares or these key lime pie cupcakes.

2.

i love this idea for making a gift closure out of a fabric covered button...

but i think i am going to try to make my own out of some flat back glass pebbles covered with the fabrics of my choice.

3.

i am mulling over the idea of doing something like this to the wood bar in my kitchen, but with a fun color... & what word would i do?

all these vintage buttons in big jars just makes me really happy. there is something "homey" about them ("homey" as in like home, not like slang "homey). right now all my buttons are stored in this salad bowl atop a plant stand base type of thing, which the cat constantly knocks over. on the bright side, i always discover cool new buttons when picking them up, but after seeing this im going to collect some jars.

this is going to our rans next project for the patio so we can wash the sand off our feet outside instead of taking giant over exaggerated steps to the bathtub & still tracking sand in.

i love thursdays.

ive decided that they are pretty much the perfect food. easy to make, healthy, good on a hot day, satisfies that sweet craving, an endless possibility of flavors, &, my favorite, quick clean up. & if you know me really well you know i dont like fruit... not for the taster, more the texture & consistency, so these are perfect for a picky eater.

last week i got a bag of smoothie mixes that had pre-cut fruit & yogurt in them, decided they were the best thing ever, & that i needed to make my own. i went to the grocery store to get all sorts of delicious fruit & some plain yogurt (i ended up having enough supplies to make about 25 smoothies & i spent about $16).

i cut up all the fruit, put about 1 cup of fruit in freezer bags, along with some frozen yogurt dallops, threw them in the freezer. when i make them into smoothies i blend one bag with about 1 cup of milk & a couple ice cubes.

(to make the frozen yogurt dallops, i just lined a cookies sheet with wax paper, spooned little piles of yogurt onto it, & put it in the freezer.)

i have yummy flavors too... mixed berry (strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, & blackberries), strawberry banana, peach, & mango pineapple. the last flavor is my favorite... its like going to some exotic tropical island paradise. delicious.

yeah, i think my love of weeds has crossed into the obsession stage, but its just sooo good. the seventh (& final) season premiers on monday so in honor i am going to share some of my obsession with you.

favorite season: the third followed closely by the fourth.

biggest disappointment: i wanted nancy & conrad to be together forever.

biggest shock: the d.e.a jacket (by the time the whole pregnancy came around there was nothing nancy could do that would shock me)

first episode i ever watched: season 4 episode 4 "the three coolers"

favorite episode: season1 episode 6 "dead in the nethers" & i have no idea why... it just is.

i love thursdays.

so i totally used to be one of those people who washed their hair everyday... & brushed it out & i always combed it into a smooth pony tail or bun, but those days are loooong gone. it slowly started a couple years ago... & now i fully embrace my messy hair. i wash it every other day at most because thats all it needs & i  brush or comb it out about once every week or two. yeah its normally in knots, but whatever. i would rather be doing other things than messing in front of the mirror with my hair for very long.
