so we have really needed new tires for awhile, like for about the past year, but getting new ones never really seemed to be in the budget, so we made do by just exploring places close to home, combining trips, etc. well we finally got new tires & both of us had the itch to just go somewhere... maybe some place where driving on the highway, the use of gps, & maybe a bathroom break would all be required.
who knows why, but we ended up headed to ramona, a super cute place a little less than an hour away from us. the drive was so pretty... i was fascinated with the giant boulders that were all over the hills, now i wanna know how they got there. oh & thats also why i needed to share 3 photos of them.
our first stop on the main street in ramona was a feed store to look at the baby chicks. they were all adorable & chirpy... brought back memories of the when we bought baby chicks to live in ran's mom's chicken coop. next, we stopped at really cool thrift store with so many treasures! awesome scores all around... ran was so pleased with a book he found he had to look through it before we could continue on. after the thrift store we walked acorss the street to an antique store that had the cutest little candy.by.the.piece shoppe with all the old school candies & some little kids even came in while we were there to buy a piece... cutest thing ever.
such a wonderful afternoon... i think we had both kind of forgot how mind clearing a nice drive can be.

i just discovered these today & i think its brilliant... candles & vintage tins! plus, you get to pick your own scent! i would pick, well after looking at the list it would be hard to pick because they all sound good, but probably green tea & lemongrass, northwoods, or irish mocha.
from ReFined Candle Co.
2.
making these is on my crafty to.do list... i love the way they look & i get to go hang out my the ocean while i collect sticks. you can find the diy on please note.

purple & teal color combo... i like it alot. i even made an etsy treasury full of hand.crafted & vintage pieces that are these colors.
I made a little terrarium in an old piece of scientific glass, a baby succulent, & some rocks. The succulent had to be pretty small to fit through the opening & it was a little tricky trying to arrange the whole thing with a dowel, but it's going to look so amazing when it starts growing. I already love watching throughout the day to see whats going on in there.
We took a walk on the pier.
Spent more time hanging out on the patio...
& I finished carving this logo stamp... I'm pretty darn proud of it too.
I am sharing how to make these fun elastic bookmarks over on Apple Blue today...
I am really excited for this coming class at the Lazy hummingbird... we are going to be making art journals! The sample I made is for this summer, a place to tuck away photos, stories, adventures, & snippets of life during the season. Making it has made me pretty happy for summer to roll around so I can start filling it up.
The workshop is Thursday May 17, from 7-10 pm. The cost is $15 & that includes all the supplies you need & as always, this book is completely customizable... choose your own papers, colors, theme, etc.

I am really diggin' this awesome bike pouch... I just wish I had a bike to put it on. I could put all my packages to mail in it, random finds from nature rides that I would go on, & use it to hold all my "important stuff" like my cell phone... if I had a bike. If you want to make one, its a project from sunday crafternoon on My Girl Thursday.

These adorable notebooks & cards from Flight of Fancy, a local pop.up shop. They are made from recycled paper & hand.crafted stamps... they have such a good vibe & make me happy when I look at them. You can find Flight of Fancy on etsy & FB... once they hit 100 "likes" they are doing a big give.away so go "like" them!

An etsy treasury I curated inspired by the amazing Maurice Sendak's famous Where the Wild Things Are. There's a wild thing inside of us all...
What are you loving this week?
We had gorgeous summer like weather so we spent alot of time on our patio over the weekend. I mainly hung out drawing some new stamp designs & making a much needed to.do list. Ran re.potted some plants & then re.arranged the plant stans to hopefully get them as much sun as possible. The pets naped in sun (tittens on top of the recycle bin), chased bugs, & ate the grass that was poking through the fence.
We enjoyed some delicious strawberry rhubarb jam made by my friend Holly.
Lots of trips to the market for coffee supplies. It seemed liked we were always out of something. This picture below is obviously not the market, its the sketchy looking, but no sketchy alley that is by the market.
I didn't make it to that growing pile of laundry that needs to be done & sweet kitten little made it clear by napping in the empty dish towel drawer.
I've been adding new things to The Yellow Trunk etsy shop... almost on a daily basis.
Vintage buttons! I have some sets with all the same buttons & some fun mixes... like an instant button collection.
Altered composition notebooks. I have been having so much fun creating these journals... perfect jotting ideas, favorite quotes, stories, sketches... whatever you want.
Recycled burlap banners. I made these from an old burlap archery target & I love how they turned out... so much so that I kept one & hung it out on my patio.
& finally, a new stamp set! It's really versatile as they all have more than one use. Plus this stamp set is my May special... get 25% your entire purchase when you purchase this stamp set (that makes the stamps only $15!) Coupon code: Maysale.
i live by the beach with my best friend & our little family who refer to as "the pack." i am a music loving creative soul who over uses "..." when blogging
